1. They accidentally activate an ancient artifact that causes a dimensional disruption and maybe something odd happens? One of them can read the other's mind? They switch places? They relieve the same day over and over? Red!Tham is a thing?
2. Or maybe they stumble upon a tome that reveals a hidden chapter of Teyvat's history or takes them to historical places, so they have to relive and interact with Deshret or smth (or maybe they become them?) to influence the past? Aka one decides to change the future by changing the past, the other decides that they shouldn't intervene, etc.
3. They just sit down in an oasis after trekking in the desert and rest. Something could happen there, two bros sitting in a hot pond...
4. Anything else? Something a bit more domestic? I'm honestly so good with everything with these two.

If I wasn't going on vacation so soon I would say we should just do ALL THE THINGS but we can start simple for now /o/ I LIKE FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE let's go for that one!!! Can't believe they're gonna find the kama sutra (jk) (unless?) no okay I AM THINKING... we could either do 1. it's during liyue arc, childe is digging for info before he knows who zhongli actually is and zhongli is either subtly guiding him in the right direction or misleading him for safety reasons; 2. it's pre- or post-fontaine and childe comes to visit to ask him for help investigating (waves hands vaguely in childe fontaine things), or 3. it's not plot-relevant at all and they're helping out the traveler and they just stumble on something together!! (thinking) if none of those sound good or if you wanna adjust we can do that too!!

Maybe something like helping out the traveler (or the traveler did something somewhere in Liyue and therefore these two are going to snoop) and finding a source of knowledge, then needing to seal it off (while Childe probably wants to take it to his queen or smth).

We can do closer to post-Liyue but I think Childe would be relatively chill about it since he just kind of looked at his complicated feelings and went ":\ well anyway" and put them aside to not think about them lmfkjhkgh touches the ground. But yeah!! I think if we do Post-Sumeru it could be like... Childe on his way to Fontaine for his "vacation" a.k.a. him noticing the beginnings of his weird moods/the stuff he mentioned at the beginning of the Fontaine arc, maybe he heard about Traveler investigating something, maybe forbidden knowledge-related (because it would be post-Rhukka and Scara for them but obvs Childe and (probably) Zhongli wouldn't know that) so he swung by trying to intercept them and find out what they were looking into but they left already so he tracks down Zhongli instead to pick up their trail?? Or something like that... what do you think!!
