[Vash may not need supervision, but that doesn't mean he should be left by himself!! Which is kind of what he'd expected Alhaitham to do, so it gives him pause when he sees what Alhaitham's written. Oh.

...Well... he's still annoyed about their little tiff earlier, and he certainly doesn't like being backed into a corner--but spending unplanned time with Vash is an undeniably nice gesture on Alhaitham's part. Kaveh knows Alhaitham doesn't dislike Vash or Wolfwood--he would've made it clear if he did, Kaveh is sure--but that's very different from disrupting your plans for the day just to accommodate someone you've only met a few times.

Alhaitham really did learn a few things from his coup buddies, didn't he... amazing...]

Being in love with someone and trying to make amends after an argument with them helps too. Kaveh is the only one who could make Alhaitham put up with other people for longer than he has to. ]

A what? [Give him a second to think, that was so long ago--] Oh yes, that. It wasn't anything grand, just an exercise in structural stability. [That's not what pillow forts are for] Admittedly, it was fun. We didn't even do that sort of thing in my entry-level courses.

No, although given the sorts of ridiculous tasks we were made to endure, it wouldn't have seemed an unusual order. I would've vastly preferred that to rude swords and pits full of slugs. [SOMETIMES... MINI-EVENTS HAPPEN.] But in this case, it was just something he wanted to do in our off time. That was shortly after we met, come to think of it.
